Latest movie: The Hurt Locker

Pretty intense. If this film does not win an academy award it will be a shame. Unfortunately I heard a producer associated with the film violated academy rules just recently but let's think past it. All the hype surrounding this film is well-deserved. Congrats to the director.

Lupercalia --> Valentine's Day
In Ancient Rome, Lupercalia, observed February 13 through 15, was an archaic rite connected to fertility. Lupercalia was a festival local to the city of Rome. The more general Festival of Juno Februa, meaning "Juno the purifier "or "the chaste Juno," was celebrated on February 13–14. Pope Gelasius I (492–496) abolished Lupercalia.
A commemorative feast was established in 496 by Pope Gelasius I. It is a common opinion that the Christian church may have decided to celebrate a Valentine's feast day in the middle of February in an effort to Christianize celebrations of the pagan Lupercalia.

Latest movie: Notorious

I finally got around to seeing this. I liked it. I was a teenager when
there was that whole East Coast vs West Coast stuff going on. Looking
back now it was pretty ignorant and ridiculous. Notorious shows the rise
of a guy from the streets through music without glorifying 'thug life'.
I think the director scored BIG with this biopic.

My most recent work

I originally took these photos for a music magazine. The
editor decided to go in a
the story, so the pics went unused. However, the band
said they would use the photos. It's all good.

Alison Gingerich
So yeah, I did a shoot with Alison last March. That means I am cool. Jokes.
But seriously, it's good to see her doing her thing.

Toyota recalling 270,000 Priuses

Toyota announced today it would recall 270,000 of the
popular hybrid car Prius in the U.S. and Japan. The recall
will target the third-generation Prius launched in May 2009.
The recall is due to gas pedals that can get trapped under
floor mats or become stuck on their own and fail to return
to the idle position. Toyota for the first time gave an
estimate of the costs of the global gas-pedal recall. The
$2 billion total represents $1.1 billion for repairs and $770
million to $880 million in lost sales. Toyota is expecting to
lose 100,000 in vehicle sales because of the recall fallout
with an estimated 80,000 of them in North America.

Child slavery alive in Haiti

In Haiti, children are regularly loaned to other households,
and the unluckiest are treated like slaves. Young servants
are known as “restavek”, Haitian Creole for “stays with”.
The earthquake will not change that. Click here for full story.
